Donor Support Helps SSU Student-Athletes Compete, Learn, and Lead
For Shawnee State University Head Softball Coach Kristen Bradshaw, the story of a student-athlete begins the day they arrive on campus and donor support is part of it every step of the way.
Bradshaw, who also oversees athletic community engagement, has a front-row seat to that journey. She watches students arrive, develop throughout their careers, and graduate ready to lead in their community. It is the part of her job she loves most.
Along the way, gifts show up in practical ways, including help with travel costs, scholarships, and upgrades to facilities like the brand-new softball field. For Bradshaw, the value goes beyond the financial.
"Donor support helps our student-athletes not only financially, but it gives them the confidence knowing that they have community support behind them," Bradshaw said.
That confidence has a purpose. The result is a student-athlete who is more than a competitor.
"This support allows our student-athletes to focus on their education, compete at a high level, serve their community, and become the leader that we see them being." Bradshaw said.
