The Story Behind “Make It Count.”

When attending a Shawnee State University home basketball game, fans can rely on hearing the ever-present, “Make it count!” shout from the upper mezzanine when the Bears are preparing to shoot foul shots. Sherrill Day, an avid SSU Basketball supporter and a member of the Golden Bears program, wants to remind Men’s and Women’s Basketball players of the importance of their foul shots.

In 2019, Day decided to take her plea a step further by establishing the Make It Count Scholarship fund - where she has pledged $1 per foul shot made at home games to benefit a scholarship for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. In 2019, Make It Count raised $1,357 thanks to the support of Day and several game day sponsors.

3 Point Club

Make your pledge to support the Women’s Basketball team in this year’s 3 Point Club! On average, the Women’s Basketball team makes 242 3-pointers each season. At the end of the season, members will receive an invitation to the program’s season wrap-up banquet and receive a 3-Point Club T-Shirt.
